ACTORS GYMNASIUM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
  • What should I wear to class?
    • We suggest that students wear clothing they are comfortable moving in, that is not too-loosely fitting. Close-toed gym shoes should be worn to all Circus classes to use during stilting, no specific footware is necessary for any other classes as they are done barefoot.
  • Where is The Actors Gymnasium located?
    • The Actors Gymnasium is located within the Noyes Cultural Arts Center at 927 Noyes, Evanston, Illinois. A map and more detailed directions may be found here.
  • Where is the gym space located within the Noyes Cultural Arts Center?
    • The Gym is located at the far north end of the building and is visible from the parking lot past the playground. Entering through the main entrance of the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, the Gym may be reached by taking a right at the main gallery hallway and continuing to the far north end of the building. The entrance to the gym is through the last set of double doors, on the right.
  • How do I schedule a drop-in class?
    • Students may, with advanced permission from the office, schedule drop-in attendance to classes for which they are not registered. Please call the office at 847-328-2795 to discuss pricing or schedule a drop-in.
  • Am I allowed to sit in on my child's class?
    • Generally, parents are not allowed to observe their child's class, if the class is not a parent-participation class. Parents are asked to wait outside until their child's class is over. This is to provide a comfortable and neutral space for all kids in the class. Parents are allowed to observe during the final week of classes in a session. If you have a specific concern about your child's class, please speak with the instructor or contact the office at 847-328-2795.
  • Do I need previous experience to take a class?
    • Not at all! Our classes cater to students of all skill levels. Outside of our intermediate and advanced level classes, no previous experience in circus or gymnastics is required. We do our best to allow students to work at their own pace and skill level, but we also remind students to be aware of their own physical limitations. In addition, The Actors Gymnasium reserves the right to refuse students who, in the professional opinion of the class's instructor, may present a danger to themselves or others.
  • Are private lessons available?
    • Yes. If you wish to arrange private lesson, please call the office at 847-328-2795 for scheduling and pricing information.
  • Will I receive a registration confirmation?
    • Yes, if you provide an email address with your registration form. Only email confirmations will be issued for class registration. If sending a registration via fax or email, or if you are concerned about your registration status, we encourage students to follow up with the office at 847-328-2795 to confirm the registration form was received. If a class is full we will contact you with waiting list status.
